Chetan Anand

Chetan Anand was a pioneering filmmaker known for his sensitive filmmaking and roots firmly planted in nationalistic and egalitarian beliefs. His debut Neecha Nagar became the first Indian film to be awarded the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Feastival . He formed the iconic Navketan Films with his younger brother Dev Anand, directing films like Taxi Driver, Aandhiyan, with Dev Anand as the lead, but later moved on to make films on his own. His experimental filmmaking came to the fore in Aakhri Khat and Heer Ranjha. Other major works include war films like Haqeeqat, Hindistan Ki Kasam, and social dramas like Hanste Zakhm and Kudrat.
