Bees Saal Baad (1962) was a psychological thriller film directed by Biren Nag in his directorial debut. Produced by Hemant Kumar, who also composed the music and lent his voice to some songs, the film stars Biswajeet, Waheeda Rehman, Madan Puri, Sajjan and Asit Sen. A loose adaptation of the Bengali thriller Jighansa (1951), which itself drew inspiration from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles, Bees Saal Baad also takes cues from Hemendra Kumar Roy's novel Nishithini Bivishika. The film became a massive hit in 1962, topping the box-office and earning the status of a "super hit." बीस साल बाद (1962) एक मनोवैज्ञानिक थ्रिलर फ़िल्म थी जिसके निर्देशक बीरेन नाग थे। यह उनके निर्देशन में बनी पहली ही फ़िल्म थी। इस फ़िल्म के निर्माता हेमंत कुमार थे जिन्होंने निर्माण के साथ-साथ फ़िल्म में संगीत भी दिया था। कुछ गीतों में भी हेमंत कुमार ने अपनी आवाज़ दी थी। इस फ़िल्म में विश्वजीत, वहीदा रहमान, मदन पुरी, सज्जन और असित सेन मुख्य भूमिकाओं में थे। यह फ़िल्म आंशिक रूप से बांग्ला थ्रिलर फ़िल्म जिघांसा (1951) पर आधारित थी, जो खुद अंग्रेज़ी के मशहूर जासूसी कथा लेखक सर आर्थर कॉनन डॉयल के 'दि हाउंड ऑफ़ दि बास्करविल्स' से प्रेरित थी। इसके साथ कुछ हद तक इसके कथानक में हेमेंद्र कुमार राय के उपन्यास 'निशिथिनी बिभीषिका' के तत्व भी देखे जा सकते हैं। साल 1962 में रिलीज़ के साथ ही बीस साल बाद कामयाबी की बुलंदियाँ छूने लगी और इसने टिकट खिड़की पर शीर्ष स्थान हासिल करते हुए 'सुपर हिट' का तमगा हासिल कर लिया। फ़िल्म की इस सफलता के पीछे बड़ा कारण इसका संगीत था। उसमें भी ख़ासकर शकील बदायूनी का लिखा और लता मंगेशकर का गाया गाना \"कहीं दीप जले कहीं दिल\" जिसने लोकप्रियता की बुलंदियाँ छू लीं। इस गीत के लिए लता मंगेशकर को 'सर्वश्रेष्ठ पार्श्व गायिका' और शकील बदायूनी को 'सर्वश्रेष्ठ गीतकार' का फ़िल्मफ़ेयर पुरस्कार मिला। इस...
