Founded by Baburao Patel in 1935, it was an influential English-language monthly magazine published from Bombay (now Mumbai). Filmindia magazine published it's first edition in April 1935 and continued till 1961. While the magazine focused on Hindi cinema, it also covered other regional Indian and international cinema, and included articles on the politics of the day.
